Cutting the Ribbon on Project Grow’s New Playground

June 8, 2026

The families that Adopt-A-Family serves live in an urban environment, where often the only places to play are the sidewalk and the street. For this reason, the Project Grow playground at the heart of our campus is an oasis, giving children a safe space to dream, grow, and simply enjoy being a kid.

The former Project Grow playground served families for over 22 years, especially beloved by the students of Project Grow. As equipment repair needs piled up, the Board of Directors and agency staff recognized an opportunity to give the children a new play space. When agency friend Lewis Miller heard this idea, he immediately decided to help. He hosted a fundraising dinner at his home, with all the proceeds going towards the playground project.

Impact the Palm Beaches awarded Adopt-A-Family with a generous grant, and Jayne and Tim Donahue, as they’ve done so many times before, stepped in when we needed them most. Together, these efforts allowed Adopt-A-Family to take the imaginative ideas of the Project Grow students and turn them into reality. The new playground includes a turf track, slides, monkey bars, and a very popular spinner. The generosity of the project funders will be recognized on a commemorative plaque, which will hang in the Project Grow turf for years to come.

On May 5, the agency hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the playground. As guests soaked in the sunshine, they heard from CEO Matt Constantine, the Honorable Betty Resch, Mayor of Lake Worth Beach, Co-President of Impact the Palm Beaches Nancy Feiwel, and agency friend Tim Donahue. The children of Project Grow eagerly waited for the moment the ribbon fell. They sprinted onto the playground, laughter and joyful screams filling the air.

Adopt-A-Family extends our sincerest gratitude to everyone who helped bring this playground to life for our students. This welcoming community space will be the home of countless memories for our children and their families for decades to come.
