Our Goals

  • Prevent or end episodes of family homelessness
  • Ensure families have a safe, stable home they can afford
  • Guide families toward self-sufficiency
  • Facilitate individualized wraparound services
  • Help children of all ages overcome the social, emotional, and academic setbacks that accompany homelessness and poverty

 

All Adopt-A-Family programs provide access to case management, budgeting assistance, mental health counseling, job coaching, and referrals to resources provided by collaborative partners.

Setting a High Standard

For 18 consecutive years, Adopt-A-Family has received Charity Navigator’s highest rating as a Four-Star organization. This rating is a measure of stability, efficiency, and sustainability.

Adopt-A-Family has earned the 2025 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar) by publicly sharing detailed information about programming, finances, strategies, metrics, and mission-driven goals.

Adopt-A-Family maintains Nonprofits First Accreditation for Excellence in Nonprofit Management, ensuring that agency practices – board governance, strategic planning, fundraising, human resources, and financial management – operate at the highest level.

Adopt-A-Family’s Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap for the agency - a path toward organizational growth and impact. Developed through a collaborative process between board and staff, the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan reflects a shared commitment to thoughtful planning, accountability, and continuous improvement. Progress toward the plan’s goals is actively monitored. At each monthly board meeting, the Chief Executive Officer provides an update on deliverables and action items, ensuring the agency remains aligned with its strategic priorities.
